John Olive’s 20th Tullahoma Wildcats football team will have its first opportunity to square off against an opponent wearing something other than cardinal and black Tuesday night when it hosts the Smyrna Bulldogs in the annual Fan Feast at Wilkins Stadium.
The Tullahoma Quarterback Club, the booster organization that supports the football team, sponsors the event each year as its primary fundraising activity. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., with the freshman teams scheduled to battle at 5 and the varsities set to kick off at 6:30.
Fans are encouraged to eat dinner at the stadium, with hamburger plates selling for $4.00 and hotdog plates for $3.00. The Quarterback Club will be signing up new members and selling Wildcat merchandise.
Fan Feast is traditionally held ten days before the start of the regular season, which begins Aug. 17, the earliest start in Tennessee high school football history. Teams have only had one week of practice in full pads.
The Wildcats are coming off an 8-3 finish in 2011 and have won 17 games over the past two seasons, including a pair of playoff games in 2010. Smyrna finished 6-5 last year and returns only three starters.
Olive, the longest-tenured coach in Tullahoma history and the man with the most wins as THS head coach, will join Scott and Binns on Tullahoma Sports Plus Monday night at 6 p.m. on 105.1 FM, 740 AM, TullahomaRadio.com, and LightTUBe channel 11.
