Jay Phillips of West Middle School is the Mike Thompson Student of the Week. Jays teachers describe him as, a fantastic student! He has a wonderful personality that is marked by the big smile he continually wears. He always has a good attitude and is always willing to help other students or participate in class. Jay is a special young man who understands the importance of “giving it your all” everyday both in the classroom and out. Jay says his favorite subject is science because he enjoys learning about things and how they work. He enjoys playing many sports and is on both the schools baseball and basketball teams. Jay indicated he would like to be an NBA player when he grows up and if that doesnt work, he would like to serve our country in the military. Fifth Grader Shelby Taylor of East Middle School is the Mike Thompson Student of the Week. Shelby was chosen because she is respectful and well behaved. Her teachers describe her as responsible; she takes initiative, consistently accomplishes her work either on time or ahead of time and sets a positive example for all her fellow classmates. Shelby is involved in many school activities; choir, school service team and art club. She states her favorite subject is math because its easy. Shelby has expressed an interest in being a veterinarian someday. The Mike Thompson Student of the Week is Hickerson Elementary fifth grader Jordan Allen. Jordans teachers describe him as determined, with a “never give up” attitude and he always does everything that is expected of him and more. Jordan likes the guitar and would like to learn to play. He is a member of 4H and has stated Math is his favorite subject because he finds it easy. Jordan would like to be an Inventor when he gets older. He is the son of proud parents Trent and Tammy Buckner. Jack T Farrar Elementary School 5th grader Andrew Pravecek is the Mike Thompson Student to the Week. Andrew was selected because he is always helpful to fellow students; never misses an opportunity to assist his teachers. He is also very respectful, gracious and kind. It is said he exemplifies what it is to be a Farrar Frog. Andrew enjoys math because he enjoys the challenge of solving problems and likes science because he loves to work with his hands. He is a basketball player and will represent Farrar Elementary on their team this year. Andrew has a desire to be a marine biologist when he grows up. East Middle School 8th grader Jill Rayfield is the Mike Thompson Student of the Week. Jill has been described by her teachers as a leader among her fellow classmates. She is also studious and involved in all her studies. Her conscientious and kind manner makes her very easy to get along with and easy to be friends with. Jill is also helpful, whether with her fellow students or East Middles teachers or staff. In short, Jill Rayfield is an exemplary student! Jill is also an athlete, playing for her schools soccer team. She is also the Co-Vice President of the Student Counsel and a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Jill is the daughter of proud parents; Terry and Emily Rayfield.
