Weekend Activities

 

Saturday, August 4

9:30 a.m.- Video Introduction to The Old Stone Fort=Meet at the museum theater to view a brief orientation film to this ancient Native American ceremonial site.

 

10:00 a.m.- Enclosure Trail Tour=Meet Cindy at the front desk of the museum to embark on a mile and a ¼ walk around the Old Stone Fort’s Enclosure Trail. During the tour, learn the secrets of this ancient site as well as view the beautiful waterfalls that surround this sacred area.

 

1:30 p.m.- Atlatl Demonstration=Native Americans were successfully hunting large game 10,000 years before the introduction of the bow and arrow with the spear thrower, or Atlatl. Join us at the front lawn of the museum to try your hand at this ancient technology.

 

3:00 p.m.- Tennessee State Park’s Trivia Hour=How well do you know Tennessee’s State Parks? Join us at the museum front desk to begin a challenging game of trivia and celebrate the 75th anniversary of Tennessee State Parks as you learn some fun facts about our history.
